Injuries Mean Newcastle Need Whole New Left Side v Manchester City

The perils of too small a squad could hit Newcastle sooner than anybody thought.

While Jonas Gutierrez has lost favour with many fans over the course of the last 12 months, there is little doubt he would have been in Alan Pardew’s startng eleven at the Etihad.

However, it looks like Jonas has no chance of making it and across the media they are reporting this morning that Davide Santon is also very unlikely to figure as he is struggling for fitness.

While it isn’t specified what knock he is recovering from, all eyes will turn to his replacement.

While there has been talk of Dummett as a possibility I would be amazed if that was the case, fro me it will be a certainty to see Mapou filling in at left-back as he did last season.

The question remains though, what is happening with Massadio Haidara? He looked full of promise when seen last season so wouldn’t he be the natural fit?
