How Does Premier League Compare To Rest Of Europe, Can Anybody Win It?
As far as this years Premier League is concerned its a case of all bets are on! According to. The betting odds it could be argued that the Premier League is the most competitive major league in Europe.
Let’s break this down. In Germany you have Bayern Munich at 1/6, Borussia Dortmund at 5/1 and then it’s 33/1 the field.
In Spain you have La Liga where it’s Barcelona 4/7 and Real Madrid 11/8, it’s 100/1 the field thereafter.
Italy appears more competitive with Juventus a 8/11, Rafa Benitez Napoli at 4/1, AC Milan at 11/2 and its 16/1 the rest (including Inter Milan).
This year with 3 of ‘The Big 4‘ in the Premier League changing their managers for one reason our another it seems there’s a shakeup in the betting too.
Chelsea are marginal 2/1 favourites which in the most part is due to the return of “The Special One”.
Defending Champions Manchester United are 9/4 with new manager David Moyes who has short trips to Liverpool and Manchester City as well as Chelsea visiting as part of a tough opening 5 games.
Manchester City are also 9/4 with new manager Manuel Pellegrini and look to have stealthily added more steel to their squad as well as disposing of wantaway striker Carlos Tevez.
You then have Arsenal available at 10/1 who look quite skinny with at the time of the writing their only signing Yaya Sanogo on a free from Auxerre.
Then you have Newcastle just behind at…..

So the betting odds highlight that we are the only one of the major leagues in Europe (you could add Greece, Portugal and Turkey to this, although Ajax in Holland are a touch above evens) where there isn’t an odds on favourite. Not only that we have 3 teams all within less than half a point of each other (2/1, 9/4, 9/4) and a fourth at 10/1.
All things considered are we in for the most exciting and open Premier League season ever? Where’s your tenner going?
