Deschamps To Drop Cabaye Over Newcastle Situation

An extra ingredient to the ongoing Yohan Cabaye fiasco is almost certain to be added this Thursday.

In comments targeted at both Cabaye and PSG’s Mamadou Sakho, manager of France, Didier Deschamps, has said that if players aren’t featuring for their clubs then they won’t be allowed to play for their country.

Deschamps will name his squad this Thursday for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Belarus but has stated;

“If you do not play for three weeks, how can you be in shape to plan an international? It is impossible.”

This hardline attitude will be the last thing Yohan Cabaye will want to hear and must surely help hasten some kind of conclusion to the stalemate surrounding the player’s future.

Deschamps adding;

“I do not ask them anything, they are free to pursue their careers, but the know very well and it is the same for everyone, you need a minimum of playing time. You have to have minutes on the pitch, start games, to be able to hope to play for France.”

As to the rest of Newcastle’s French contingent, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle’s poor start will affect their international chances and subsequently how that may impact on how they see their futures at Newcastle United.
