Cash In On The Championship

Thankfully we are still one level detached from the Championship but when it comes to making money we are happy to take a look.

The Championship kicks off this weekend and after our earlier look at [intlink id=”32451″ type=”post”]League 1 and League 2[/intlink], we’ve asked our new resident betting expert, Greg Starand, to cast his eye and bring you the best tips to follow in the Championship.

Grant Holt – Do the business for Wigan?

All odds are courtesy of our betting partner Bet Victor, who we chose because over the last few years they have been identified independently as overall having the best football betting odds of any of the leading bookmakers.

We know lots of you like to risk a few quid on the season ahead, trying to identify the clubs and players that give the best value over the next nine or ten months, so here are top tips.

The Championship is always a fiendishly difficult league to predict and it is conceivable that any of the top 9 in the betting as far down as Blackburn Rovers could make a run at winning the league. QPR are favourites at 6/1 and are a difficult team to assess given their abysmal form over the last 18 months. Even the arrival of ‘Arry last season failed to spark any form of revival. It also remains unclear whether the likes of Adel Taraabt and Loic Remy will still be there after the transfer window. Now it could be that their class shines through and they romp away with the league, however I’m not inclined to take 6/1 on a club that’s been in turmoil for so long.

You could easily make a case for Bolton at 8/1 and Wigan at 10/1 and Athletic’s signing of striker Grant Holt does catch the eye, he could be a possible in the top scorer market at 12/1.

However with regard to winning the title I want to be with READING  at 8/1. They have retained the bulk of their squad from the Premier League and Nigel Adkins has added quality in Wayne Bridge, Danny Williams and former Real Madrid winger Royston Drenthe. Reading look powerful up front with Pavel Pogrebnyak and Adam Le Fondre (Top Scorer 12/1) who I expect will score goals for fun in the Championship. All in all I think Reading are well equipped to bounce back and repeat their title victory of two years ago. Top Championship scorer betting all HERE.
