Best Ever Newcastle Manager – Pardew & Kinnear Join Forces To Protest At Not Being On Possibles List
Who is the greatest ever Newcastle United manager?
Tough one to call as it may depend on which era you were born in but for most of us two names would be on that list; Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan.
Anyway, Sky Sports have added two more and asked people to vote on which is the greatest, they are carrying out a similar exercise on every Premier League club – not just Newcastle.
The other two possibilities are Joe Harvey who of course led Newcastle to Fairs Cup glory, plus Frank Watt. Watt is a slightly different candidate as he was part of a committee who selected the team right through the mega-successful Edwardian era, holding the post of Secretary. The first to hold the position of manager was Andy Cunningham, appointed in 1930.
The late Stan Seymour (Senior) may have been a little unlucky to be left out as he put together the team that won the FA Cup in 1951 & 1952.
However, even more aggrieved is Joe Kinnear who has threatened (promised?) to never speak to Sky Sports again after this shocking slur on his good self, after winning 6 league titles, three World Manager Of The Year Awards and numerous Cups during his five months in charge at St.James’ Park.
Meanwhile, Alan Pardew is rumoured not to be too impressed either, pointing to the fact that at least he isn’t Joe Kinnear, being a decent starting point.
