Alan Pardew – ‘The Good News Is That Manchester City Can Only Play 2 Strikers At Any One Time’

This summer is like watching a car crash in slow motion, the club putting forward our players one by one to all put out the same message, everybody is working very hard and this season will be better.

Some such as Cheick Tiote go even further and say Newcastle are aiming for top six or higher, what this is based on is anybody’s guess and as we all know – talk is cheap.

This is what Alan Pardew has had to say to the Northern Echo about the upcoming match at the Etihad;

“There is a statistic that they (Manchester City) have spent £400m just on strikers over the last six years.

Actually, when we get to Monday, they can only put a couple on, they won’t put four on, although they may do over the course of the game…but it is still 11 v 11.

You must always enter every game in the belief that you can go and win it, I’ve always done that. Even last year when we were really struggling for confidence and even personnel, we had to enter the game with a game plan and a belief you can win. Trust me, we will be looking to do that next season too.”

Does our manager think we are all stupid, tens of thousands of us (mainly via dodgy satellite in pubs/clubs or on tinternet) watched last season’s humiliation at City, it was possibly the worst of the season and that is saying something.

How Pardew can claim he goes out to win every match is beyond me, that match at the Etihad was atrocious with Newcastle defending from the first minute to the last, the midfield needed binoculars to spot Cisse such was his isolation.

So the reassuring things that the manager can offer us is that we are allowed the same number of players as Manchester City and the home side will only play two classforward players at any one time. Well last season they played with a front four of Tevez, Nasri, Silva and Dzeko against Newcastle and I expect little different this time.
