Alan Pardew Says He’s Told Yohan Cabaye He “Expects” Him To Play Against Fulham

Speaking today in advance of Newcastle’s massive match with Fulham, Alan Pardew has said that he has told Yohan Cabaye that he ‘expects ‘ him to play.

At the pre-match press conference for Saturday’s game, the manager said;

“I’ve told Yohan I expect him to play against Fulham.”

This doesn’t exactly have a ring to it that makes you think ‘oh great, they’ve sorted everything out’.

After a couple of weeks of smoke and mirrors as to who is/isn’t doing/saying what, from Alan Pardew’s comments it looks as though he is now knocking the ball into Cabaye’s court.

Surely the manager should have this kind of thing bottomed out with the player and he says either the French playmaker is playing, or he isn’t.

The way this sounds is a bit like giving somebody an ultimatum.

On the other hand, they don’t mess about in France and as we revealed earlier this week, as expected Cabaye has been left out of France’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Didier Deschamps; “Yohan Cabaye hasn’t been playing football recently, he is not playing so I did not pick him.”
