Alan Pardew – Remy To Miss Start Of Season

Alan Pardew was interviewed after the Rangers friendly at Ibrox and had some surprising news, at least for me.

I was under the impression that the striker had missed the opening Championship match for QPR simply because he was due to go out to another club, which ended up being us.

However, Alan Pardew has now revealed that Remy has being out injured and indeed hasn’t trained for 3 weeks, definitely won’t play against Braga and all but no chance of facing Manchester City. Though the manager hopes he’ll be up to speed by the time we play West Ham, which seems a little optimistic as it is only 5 days after that match at the Etihad.

This is what Alan Pardew had to say to the club’s official TV channel;

“Well obviously we chased him (Remy) six months ago and got very close.

This time we got him and I hope we’ve got the right stage for him because he’s a big player and he scores big goals.

Now we’ve got to wait because he’s injured, he hasn’t trained for three weeks, so I’ve got to fair to everybody here. He’s got a fair bit of work to do, I don’t think he’s got much chance of the first game if I’m honest but certainly West Ham you’d like to think he’d be up to speed…but he won’t train before Braga so absolutely no chance for the guys who paid their money to see him on Saturday. But I think we are going to announce him before the game and let everybody say hello.”
