Alan Pardew – ‘At Home We Expect To Win’
The countdown to Manchester City was a long one but once the season starts, they come thick and fast.
Only four days now until West Ham visit St.James’ Park and last night Alan Pardew was already targeting that match to bounce back.
When asked after the match what he would do against West Ham to fill the position vacated thanks to Steven Taylor’s sending off, this is what the manager had to say to NUFC TV;
“Mapou’s natural position is there, we felt that Navas would be difficult for us, especially for Dummett to make his (Premier league) debut, as we had no Davide Santon.
Dummett did terrific when he came on and he has a good chance of playing next week.
Coming here anything you get is a bonus…but at home we expect to win.”
Dummett did ok when he came on but in truth City just toyed with Newcastle, especially once United were down to ten men.
With Newcastle now already under massive pressure rock bottom of the table, even after just one match, you have to wonder about the wisdom of throwing in Dummett for his first start at St.James’ Park in the Premier League for what is a game Newcastle can’t afford to lose.
Unless Santon bounces back to fitness though, what alternative is there?
