Three More Rising Newcastle Stars Sign New Contracts
Paul Dummett, Michael Richardson and Conor Newton recently agreed new contracts and now three other young hopefuls have done the same.
Newcastle United have today confirmed that Academy goalkeeper, Jonathan Mitchell, has signed a new one year contract.
Striker Alex Gilliead has signed for three years, the young forward having shown ability for England Under 17s as well as Newcastle.
Finally, keeper Jak Alnwick has put his name to a two year deal. Alnwick is now 20 and with Krul injured he was on the bench five times last season but is still to make his senior debut.
It is becoming increasingly more difficult for young homegrown players to make it in the Premier League and the situation is now as bad, if not worse, at St.James’ Park as it is anywhere.
Good luck to all our young players and let us hope for countless reasons that one or two can come through in the next few years.
