The Chance To Do Your Bit For A Newcastle United Legend

Newcastle United have given permission for a plaque commemorating the late, great Joe Harvey to be displayed at St.James’ Park.

Members of ‘The Fairs Club’ campaigned for Joe to get the much deserved recognition and now they have secured NUFC consent, they are co-ordinating the fundraising needed to finance the tribute.

Just in case you weren’t aware, Joe Harvey was a huge figure in the fifties FA Cup exploits as both player and captain, then of course later returned to lift the Fairs Cup as manager.

One way you can help is by snapping up tickets (while stocks last) for a special fundraising night on July 11 at High Howden Social Club. The night will see a gathering of Ex-United greats including Jim Iley, Frank Clark, Tommy Robson, Wyn Davies  and Stan Anderson.

Tickets are a bargain £20 each and can be bought (or for further details) via organiser Bill Bruce on 0775 357 3613 or by emailing william.bruce6@btopenworld.com

If you can’t make it along on the night then you can still do your bit by making a donation, just get in touch with Bill by phone or email and he will point you in the right direction.

On all of our readers’ behalf, The Mag have made a donation which is currently winging its way over to Bill and The Fairs Club.

A great effort by fans in tribute to a great man, player, captain and manager.
