Striker Linked With Newcastle Becomes A Political Football
While Newcastle are still to get off the mark in terms of summer signings, one striker who has been linked with a move to St.James’ Park, is in the middle of a political storm in France.
The president of Olympic Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, had made it clear that he wanted to sell Befetimbi Gomis, to help relieve some of the financial worries hanging over the French club.
However, his behaviour has unleashed a storm with Gomis insisting he won’t be pushed out unless he chooses to leave, which puts Lyon in a dodgy position as the French international only has one year left on his contract.
The row has made news around France and one of their websites, madeinfoot.com, has surveyed the French public regarding the Gomis’ situation and Aulas’ behaviour (thanks as ever to Pierre for the expert translation).
What do you think of the behaviour of the President of Olympique Lyonnais, Jean-Michel Aulas, in respect of its international striker Bafetimbi Gomis?
1 – Scandalous, Gomis is the best play maker of the club – 54%
2 – Normal, he tries to keep Lisandro Lopez (Striker/Winger for Lyon) and for that to happen Gomis must leave the club – 14%
3 – Not surprising, everyone just trying to look after their own agenda -13%
4 – Doubtful, Aulas has not approached it properly with Gomis -11%
5 – Not interested in this story -8%
