A defender that Newcastle have been linked with several times has revealed that he believes his club are asking too big a transfer fee.

Anderlecht defender has now got his Belgian passport which makes him an EU citizen and now hopes to take advantage by moving to the Premier League; thanks as always to Pierre for the expert translation by Pierre from topmercato;

Anderlecht Defender, Cheikhou Kouyaté, now holds a Belgian passport, which gives him the status of an EU player, which he hopes will enable him to join the Premier League more easily, where two clubs are interested in him.

According to the Belgian daily, La Dernière Heure;

‘The Last Hour, Cheikhou Kouyaté is bound for England. The player has received two offers, from Southampton, but especially Newcastle .

Anderlecht , the club for which he plays, are asking seven million euros to let their player go.

A significant amount thinks Kouyaté:

“Yes, I think of a transfer , I’d be lying if I said the opposite. But my agents are dealing with it, and when they tell me a club that I would like shows interest, we think about it seriously. Until then, I remain focused on my job.

Seven million requested by Anderlecht, I think it’s a lot. I do not think a Premier League club would pay this amount for me. I believe that Anderlecht should lower my selling price.”
