Mike Ashley Gets Personally Involved And Makes Bid For Striker
In a very bizarre twist to a very very bizarre summer so far, Mike Ashley’s new sport information website are reporting that the Newcastle owner has jumped into the transfer action himself, making a £5m bid for a striker.
Wigan’s Arouna Kone was said to be on the brink of signing for Everton but the Newcastle owners Sports Direct news website is reporting that Ashley has gained permission for Newcastle to talk to the Ivory Coast striker and claiming it as an exclusive. Wonder who they got their information off…?
Kone scored 13 goals in 38 matches (all competitions) last season and personally I think he has a lot of ability and is a realistic signing to make who will definitely improve our squad.
The fact the striker turns 30 in November may mean little as all indications are that Ashley has ripped up his policy of only buying players under the age of 27, with an added preference that they are French.
If this transfer becomes reality then we will know that Mike Ashley is taking a more hands on approach to Newcastle United and that he is reacting to the potential disaster the club are heading for if they don’t strengthen the squad.
