List Of Players Available On A FREE Announced In France
A couple of weeks ago, we brought you details of the astonishing number of high profile players that were available on frees in the Premier League.
Players who had previously gone for massive amounts of money and pocketed huge wages, many of them a long way off retirement.
We ran an article entitled [intlink id=”29991″ type=”post”]\’Can Mike Ashley Turn Down A Totally Free New Premier League Team?\’ [/intlink]and we came up with the following team all available for nothing, with many more available as subs.
Schwarzer (Fulham)
Dunne (Aston Villa)
Upson (West Ham)
Gallas (Spurs)
Squillaci (Arsenal)
Bentley (Spurs)
Denilson (Arsenal)
Malouda (Chelsea)
Benayoun (Chelsea)
Santa Cruz (Manchester City)
Petric (Fulham)
However, it turns out that the English Premier League is not alone in having too many players, with many of them seeing their contracts out to a conclusion for various reasons.
The equivalent of the PFA in France, the UNFP (National Union Of Professional Footballers), is very proactive in trying to help the hundreds of their members who find themselves without a contract.
With July 1st reached, these players are now officially out of contract and off the payroll.
The UNFP have therefore produced a list of hundreds of players available on frees to try and help get them fixed up. The ‘free’ market in England may not have appealed to Mike Ashley, predominantly because of the wages these players would expect, could though he see the value in putting any of their French equivalents in his shopping basket?
The list of players available can be seen HERE.
