I Had High Hopes Of Top 8…

With two out and nobody in so far, it looks bad.

Not to mention that the two out were not even players we want to see go, such as Obertan and Gosling who do absolutely nothing for our club. No, they were Simpson and Perch, both vital and quality back-ups for a thin enough squad as it was.

Simpson was vital as he was the only right-back I had faith in if Debuchy was to succumb to injury. Who will that role go to now I wonder, Anitia?

Perch; one of the best utility men in the league, in my opinion. Perch was a hard worker and could fill in pretty much any role he was asked to, definitely one of our best players last season. Who will replace him?

We are halfway through this summer where we so desperately needed to strengthen and so far we have brought in no one. Toon fans have had to sit and watch while Liverpool and even the likes of the newly promoted sides such as Cardiff, strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.

The one bit of activity that isn’t rubbish transfer rumours spread by Ashley to get us to buy tickets, is the appointment of the fool that is Joe Kinnear.

He’s just embarrassing and I can’t even imagine why Ashley has done this. Kinnear supposedly stopped us from signing Dougles, a CB from FC Twente, but why? What other CB does he want?

It has reached the point were I think all is lost for us. We needed to strengthen this summer with a number of signings from defenders to forwards and for Pardew to get his act together if we wanted to challenge for top 8 this coming season.

To be honest, I actually had high hopes of that happening, but now, being linked with the likes of Darren Bent, the supposed fix to our striker problem, I am filled with despair.

We need a quality striker, amongst many other players, that is not Bent.
