Half The Fans Believe Newcastle Will Bring In One New Player At Best
As always in the summer, who Newcastle will buy is the biggest topic of conversation, whether you are at work, down the pub with your mates, or picking up the newspaper to find out what is the latest bit of fantasy transfer football.
The majority seemingly very worried about the total lack of signings and seemingly no great urgency to bring some in, while every other club in the Premier League has brought in new recruits, including very sizeable investment by clubs such as West Ham, Swansea, Norwich, Southampton etc who most fans would expect us to be jumping ahead of again. There is always two sides to every argument though and other fans are going down the route of ‘calm down bonny lad/lass, no need to panic with 36 days left until we play our opening Premier League match’.
So we decided to try and pull together everybody’s expectations and see what fans collectively thought would happen between now and the Manchester City match in terms of team strengthening.
So we asked; ‘When Newcastle Line Up Against Man. City, How Many New Signings Do You Think United Will Have Made?’
A brilliant response and the thousands of votes came up with the following results and how many players fans expect to arrive;
0 – 18%
1 – 32%
2 – 25%
3 – 18%
4 – 5%
5 – 1%
More Than 5 – 1%
With Newcastle currently the only Premier League club not to have bought a player yet, I thought the results would show a less than hopeful fan reaction but even I am shocked at how bad the expectations are.
To have half the fans believing that Alan Pardew will have one new player at best, is a big reality check, especially when nearly one in five supporters expects us to sign nobody!
Adding in the fans who believe 2 new players is what is most likely to happen, then gives us 75% thinking that two new players if the upper limit.
Watch out for our next poll shortly coming up, matching those results with this one will tell us plenty.
