Does Alan Pardew Like A Bit Of Kylie In The Mornings?

I have been known to dance around the house on a Sunday morning signing along to a bit of Kylie, who hasn’t?

I wonder though if Alan Pardew does; maybe if we all sing along to the following you’ll get the idea.

I got something to say
I’m through with the past
Ain’t no point in looking back
The future will be
And did I forget to mention
That I found a new direction
And it leads back to me, yeah
I’m spinning around
Move outta my way…

Those of course are some of the lyrics to the Aussie warbler’s catchy hit, ‘Spinning Around’.

Does Alan Pardew ever get sick of (positively) Spinning Around in his press conferences? This is what our manager had to say to the club’s official TV channel after last night’s 3-1 defeat to Portuguese side, Rio Ave;

“I do not think the result really reflected the game because I think we bossed about 70% of it.

They had three chances in the first half and scored them all which put us right on the back foot.

If I’m being honest with you, they surprised us a bit with their quality. A couple of their players were very very good and it shows why they nearly qualified for the Europa League last season.

We don’t ever want to lose but there were some real highlights.

Dummertt again, Obertan and Sammy made a big difference when they came on, Cabaye was good, Cheick was good, Moussa was good, Rob was good and Santon did very, very well.

There were a lot more positives than negatives.”

Speaking to people who watched the match, apparently it was in reality as dismal as the scoreline suggests.

Yes it is only a friendly and no need to get too excited or depressed at anything that happens in one but…

The hosts play in front of only two thousand punters on average every top division home match and despite Alan bigging them up, they finished seventh in the Portuguese top division last year and the reality is once you get past the usual suspects such as Porto and Benfica, it is pretty much dropping a number of divisions, as their crowd figures suggest.

When you hear the manager bigging up the likes of Obertan and Sammy it makes me want to reach for a stiff drink as I have my Sunday morning Kylie singalong.

If I can sum up our manager’s match report…Newcastle controlled the game, at least 8 of  Newcastle’s players were excellent and the hosts scored on each of the three occasions they managed to get out of their own eighteen yard box.

‘I’m Spinning Around…’.
