Alan Pardew Confirms Strong Line-Up For Tonight’s Match

8 years ago

Newcastle United’s latest pre-season friendly takes place tonight against Portuguese club Pacos De Ferreira.

With Premier League kick-off less than four weeks away, the manager has confirmed that he will play his strongest starting line-up of this pre-season so far.

Three big names definitely playing are Fabricio Coloccini, Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa.

It will be the first run-outs for Colo and Ben Arfa and this is what Alan Pardew had to say to The Journal in advance of the friendly;

“We are going to play a very strong team. Pacos De Ferreira are a Champions League team and we cannot take them lightly.

We will still be entering the game in fatigue, so we will take and make a lot of substitutions.

Colo will play, as will Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye will get another game as well.”

The manager will hope for a better show that the feeble defeat to Rio Ave when United were three down before you could blink in the first half, with no defensive (or any other) recruits as yet, Pardew will be hoping for a much better show from his back line, especially with the steadying influence of Coloccini.
