A French website has carried out a poll of its readers to find out which club would be the best for Yohan Cabaye to be at next season.

Goal.com/fr asked whether Yohan should join a ‘competitive team’ (ouch!) or stay at Newcastle?

The four choices given were; Newcastle United, PSG, Manchester United or Monaco.

The good news is that Newcastle finished ahead of PSG…

Sondage-du-jour-quel-club-pour-cabaye? Poll of the day – What club for Cabaye?

The French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye is rumoured to be leaving Newcastle. What would be the best destination?

It was with the desire to continue his progression that Yohan Cabaye left Lille in 2011 for Newcastle United. At St. James Park, the French international has certainly reached another level, but this season results of his team are not in line with his ambitions. A chaotic journey that illustrates the difficulties as Magpies to play leading roles across the Channel. This situation could therefore lead the former Lille player to a change of scenery during this summer window.

He is spoilt for choice

At 27, Cabaye does not have much time to lose. One year before the World Cup, it is also imperative for him to play as often as possible in top European matches to ensure to remain as competitive as possible for Brazil. This certainly can only be achieved by being transferred to a bigger club. To this day, even though nothing has been officially confirmed, the native of Tourcoing has three possibilities for the rest of his career: Manchester United, Paris SG and AS Monaco. Teams at the top who would be willing to invest big to have him in their Squad

Asked about his future on the issue by Téléfoot, Cabaye has not been very talkative. But he still acknowledged that the possibility of joining Monaco is tempting. The midfielder would also certainly not say no to Paris SG, that has tracked him for a while. Finally, a move to Old Trafford is certainly what would be the most rewarding. The choice is tough, but the champion of France in 2011 has the whole summer to think about it and make the best decision for his career.

According to you, what should Cabaye do? Staying in Newcastle or join a competitive team? In case of departure, what would be the best club for him?

TOP VOTE

The voting was as follows;

12.2%    (Stay at) Newcastle

46.3%    Man United

32.3%    Monaco

9.2%      PSG

As our top translator (thanks yet again for the translation of this piece) Pierre comments though: “There is some hope as they put PSG behind Newcastle but there again everybody else in France hates bloody PSG!”
