Papiss Cisse Ruled Out Of Upcoming Senegal Match
Papiss Cisse got both goals in Senegals’ two goal win over Liberia in Monrovia at the weekend.
However, a booking in that game coming after a previous one against Uganda looks as though it will mean the Senegal captain missing their vital World Cup qualifier against Uganda in September.
The rules stating that two yellow cards will mean a one match ban in the subsequent game.
The match will be at a neutral ground in Conakry, Guinea following the crowd violence at their African Cup on Nations Qualifier against Ivory Coast.
Cisse has scored four of Senegal’s eight goals in their group qualifying matches so will be a big miss.
Demba Ba would appear to be a sensible replacement but interestingly Ba has been ignored by Senegal’s coach in the last two matches.
From a Newcastle perspective it could be a big positive early in the season if we don’t have our (only?) striker flying off, that is of course if he still at St.James’ Park…
