Amongst the rumours of pre-season friendlies, Scotland has heavily featured.

Matches at Rangers, Motherwell and St.Mirren have been bandied about but no news from Newcastle United, until now.

The club have confirmed that St.Mirren will indeed be visited but it will be part of pre-season for the Newcastle United U21 squad.

The Heed army will also once again host NUFC pre-season with the Under 21s having the following schedule;

Tuesday 16th July – Hamilton Academicals (Home – behind closed doors)
Saturday 20th July – Southampton (Home – behind closed doors)
Wednesday 24th July – Workington (Away 7.30pm kick-off)
Saturday 27th July – Kilmarnock (Away, kick-off TBC)
Tuesday 30th July – St.Mirren (Away 7.30pm kick-off)
Saturday 3rd August – Gateshead (Away 3pm kick-off)

Coincidentally, the 16th July (Under 21s home to Hamilton) is also the date that is up on Motherwell’s official website advertising a match against Newcastle United ‘who have a wealth of talent including Coloccini, Ben Arfa, Cabaye & Cisse’. That plus the fact Motherwell are already selling tickets at £15 a shot suggests an NUFC senior team but as yet no confirmation from St.James’ Park that this is actually going ahead.
