Two’s Company At Newcastle United?
We have never known what the management structure is at Newcastle United Football Company Ltd. As Mark Jensen reported earlier ([intlink id=”30603″ type=”post”]Newcastle United – Is there Anybody There?[/intlink]) the directors were Messrs Llambias, Irving and Charnley. The most likely reporting structure would have been;
Irving / Pardew / Charnley
On 26th June 2013 the company filed a termination of directorship at Companies House for Derek Llambias (correct spelling apparently). We understood that Kinnear was appointed before Llambias resigned, although Kinnear was obviously confused about that, among other things.
It is interesting, therefore, that no appointment of a new director has been filed for Kinnear. So, as we guessed, despite having the title “Director of Football” he doesn’t seem to be a director of the company.
This really does add to the confusion. People dealing with a company employee who calls himself a “Director” are entitled to think they are actually dealing with a director; somebody who has authority to act on behalf of the board.
Anyway, the minimum number of directors for a company like this is two. That is what we have at the moment. It seems the structure now is:
Irving / Kinnear / Charnley
Despite the attraction of cost-cutting in these times of austerity, it is likely that there will be an attempt to fill the vacancy for a Managing Director. For somebody to consider taking that role on they will have to ask themselves, “Do I have any chance of making a success of this with Joe Kinnear working for me?”
Answers on a postcard.
