Newcastle Strike Right Contract Balance After 5 Year Nile Ranger Disaster
After a disastrous policy of giving ridiculously long contracts to young players who had shown relatively little, Newcastle United now seem to have learnt their lesson.
Abeid and Amalfitano are available to any club willing to take them on but both have three years left on their contracts at Newcastle, having previously been given five and four year ones respectively.
Nice work if you can get it. Obviously the very worst instance of an overly long contract being given to somebody who didn’t deserve it is the one that went to Nile Ranger, five years!
No though Newcastle United have announced that Paul Dummett, Conor Newton and Michael Richardson have all agreed new one year contracts which will keep them signed up until June 2014.
All three will turn 22 this season and the other good news is that all three will likely go out on loan again, Newton & Dummett of course having tasted Cup success already with St.Mirren and Richardson getting experience at Gillingham.
A big year for all of them and realistically if any of the three manage to make that leap to deserve another contract at St.James’ Park next summer and became even a fringe player in the first team squad, it would be a massive bonus.
Good luck to all three though in however their careers develop.
