Most Likely – Newcastle Buying Carroll Or Ba, Or Wor Lass Winning Miss World?
We all know it is the silly season, though at Newcastle we tend only to have one season throughout the year, a bit like the weather.
This particular silly season though, is of course the transfer window fiasco, at least where Newcastle United are concerned..
I’m not really surprised that the press are running stories as to whether or not Demba Ba or Andy Carroll might be coming back to Tyneside, though I am astounded at how many fans are so gullible as to believe either is possible.
Wanting something to happen isn’t the same as it having a chance of actually occurring.
How would either of these transfers actually come about, assuming that is that Newcastle United would want them back, which I would assume they would as clearly they would significantly improve our chances of staying up, top ten, top six, top four, the title…or whatever else you daydream about.
In Carroll’s case, Ashley would have to pay more money (probably around £15m before Liverpool would even begin to consider selling back to us at such a massive hit/loss of face) than he ever has for a player, though in today’s market it would be a relative bargain for a proven Premier League striker, providing he stays fit.
Then our owner would have to smash his wages policy as talk of Carroll taking a massive drop in pay to come back home is laughable.
Plus, what kind of beautiful future for NUFC could Ashley paint for a prospective new signing, considering the pig’s ear he made of it last summer, throwing away any chance of building on the fifth (top!) finish with gross stupidity in terms of transfer dealings.
As for Demba Ba, like Carroll he knows the chaos inside St.James’ Park all too well, he left for a club with ambition who try to win trophies and do, so what would Mike Ashley tell him now.
As for the chances of our owner paying twice as much as he used to pay Ba in wages, plus double the transfer fee he received from Abramovich…
As for wor lass winning Miss World, I’ll not spoil her dreams if she allows me to carry on the belief that the succession of the mad, the bad and the sad who run our club, will one day do things properly.
