Joe Kinnear has stated a number of times already that it is a load of rubbish that he has any intention of replacing Alan Pardew as manager of Newcastle United, now or any time in the future.

Interesting then to look back at Joe’s career then to see if we have any clues…

It is news to me but it turns out that Joe Kinnear was Director of Football at Oxford United during the 2000/01 season. In January 2001 Kinnear resigned, blaming ill health, though rumour was that it was due a lack of power in his Director role (sure he won’t let that happen again then…).

However, only a few weeks later, Kinnear then is appointed in the same Director of Football role at Luton Town.

So what happened next?

Well surprise surprise, Kinnear pushed manager Lil Fuccillo instantly to one side and appointed himself as manager of Luton Town.

Joe worked his magic and took Luton down into the then third division.

There, that’s reassured you hasn’t it…?
