If Alan Pardew Signs His Bellamy & Robert, Will He Have A Match For Sir Bobby?
It is often forgotten that at the end of Sir Bobby Robson’s first full season at St.James’ Park, things didn’t look great.
The previous season Sir Bobby had steadied the ship and pulled Newcastle away from any danger of relegation, however in that second season a bottom half finish didn’t give any major hope of improvement.

That summer though, Robson made two signings, they didn’t come cheap but they transformed Sir Bobby’s Newcastle United.
Laurent Robert arrived from PSG for just under £10m and Craig Bellamy for £6m, not only were they outstanding players but they brought the best out of the quality players already at the club.
Given, Speed, Shearer, Solano, Dyer and the rest, were all set alight by the way Robert and Bellamy gave the team extra dimensions.
The question is, how close are Newcastle to that situation now?
If Alan Pardew/Graham Carr/Mike Ashley can find those two special players, can that transformation be repeated?
How about this line-up;
Krul
Debuchy Coloccini Mapou Santon
Sissoko Cabaye New Signing
Ben Arfa Cisse New Signing
With any football team there will be ifs and buts, however this eleven could have major potential.
The nine players named are all full internationals and if the right two players can be found, they don’t necessarily have to fit this formation, then Newcastle could easily be back in business.
As to who these two players would be? Well that all depends at what level Newcastle are aiming to be shopping at this summer and how many pieces of gold Mike Ashley is prepared to put into essential team strengthening.
