Gus Poyet Linked With Newcastle Job And Then Brighton Sack Poyet…
A story that did the rounds in this morning’s media is that Mike Ashley intends to bring in Gus Poyet if Alan Pardew leaves.
Whatever the truth, or otherwise, there is definitely something strange going on down at Brighton.
However, things took an even stranger turn today when Poyet found out live on BBC’s Match Of The Day from presenter Mark Chapman that he had been sacked.
Poyet, who led the Seagulls to fourth place this season but failure in the play-offs, “I’ve still had no communication from the club; no text, no email.
I’m probably the first to be in this position, everyone can make their own conclusions about the way I have been informed by you.”
Brighton have released a statement on their website saying Poyet had been ‘informed by the club’s internal disciplinary panel’ that he was no longer the manager of Brighton.
There is definitely something strange going on but could Mike Ashley be interested in a close friend of Dennis Wise’s as our next manager…?
