First Match Memories – Newcastle United v Sunderland 2011/12
My first match at St. James’ Park was last year in March for the Tyne and Where Derby.
I flew over from Australia as a 21st birthday present from my parents.
Shola warming up on the sideline as everyone sang his name, then when he put the ball past Mignolet to equalize right at the end, my eardrums nearly exploded.
Turning to their supporters and chanting ‘you’re not singing anymore’ with the whole stadium was great.
Left St.James’ Park and went to the pub, we did the ‘Ameobi’ and it was the best thing I have ever done.
What are your First Match Memories?
We’d really love to hear yours. Who were the opposition, how old were you, what sight sounds and smells(!) do you recall?
