‘Don’t Sell Cabaye’ – Massadio Haidara

Yohan Cabaye has been the topic of much conversation in this transfer window which isn’t even open as yet.

Some fans have expressed doubts but he is a clearly talented player who surely deserves our support to bounce back from a disappointing season, which incidentally still saw him finish only two goals behind our top Premier League scorer (of those who were still at the club at the end of the season). Cabaye finishing with six goals compared to Cisse’s eight, the departed Ba having weighed in with thirteen.

Cabaye was seen as a central figure in helping the January signings quickly adapt and arguably keep us up with those early wins against the likes of Villa and Chelsea.

Now one of those players, Massadio Haidara, has told The Journal of Cabaye’s importance;

“Of course I want Yohan to stay at Newcastle United this summer. He is a really important player for the club and for the team, he is a great player and has shown how important he is for Newcastle and for France.

I didn’t know Yohan that well before I came to Newcastle, I’d played against him and he is one of the players who gave me the warmest welcome.

He really helped me settle and I get on very well with him, just like I do with the rest of the team.

Since I’ve been here I haven’t seen a single problem; not amongst the French players – not amongst anyone. On the contrary, we all speak together.”
