Claims That Offers For Centre-Back & Forward Are ‘Imminent’

It is being reported this morning that (belatedly) Newcastle United’s transfer ‘machine’ is ready to swing into action. The reports follow what is described as a ‘very productive’ meeting between Joe Kinnear and Chief Scout Graham Carr.

The Journal are claiming that offers are due to be made by the end of the week, with the priorities at centre-half and up front, somebody to complement Papiss Cisse and not replace him.

Maybe the more mischievous of you will be speculating as to why Manager Alan Pardew was playing no part in a ‘very productive’ meeting about prospective transfers.

Rather strangely, to me, the piece also mentioned that Alan Pardew has headed off on holiday, the strangeness being the timing of his getaway, unless it was to get his head around (decide what to do about his future after?) the Kinnear appointment.  The article continuing with claims that before heading off, Pardew had discussed Darren Bent and James Tomkins with Kinnear.
