The Chronicle are reporting that Mike Ashley is ready to pay the money to bring in a striker after talking to Joe Kinnear.
Names such as Darren Bent and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are being bandied about but competing with a host of other clubs for Aubameyang, or matching Bent’s reported £60,000 a week wages, would appear unlikely.
However, that is the reality and the thought of going into the new season with the limited attacking options we finished the season with, just doesn’t bear thinking about.
