Alan Shearer Says ‘The Laughter has To Stop’
I have to say that Alan Shearer never looks at his most comfortable on Match Of The Day having to take a centre line, particularly where Newcastle United are concerned.
Our goalscoring legend is at his best when he wears his heart on his sleeve, a bit like when he graced the pitch at St.James’ Park.
The latest fiasco to engulf Newcastle United appears to have hit Alan Shearer as hard as the rest of us. Like me you have probably spent more hours than is healthy discussing the return of the chosen (by Ashley) one, so just imagine when Shearer is out and about, with every man and his dog wanting to talk about a subject that is close to his heart.
This is what he’s said in his Sun newspaper column;
“Where do we start; what I do know is that right now people are laughing at the football club that I support and that sickens me.
I promised myself years ago never to be surprised by what happens in football, particularly when it comes to Newcastle, but this situation really is stretching it a bit.
While other clubs are plotting and planning for next season, Newcastle have a manager who has just been totally undermined.
Alan Pardew has said he will carry on but I am sure it will be a difficult situation.
As for that announcement, what are the players to think when he can’t even get their names right? It is all a PR disaster.
His (Alan Pardew) silence on the appointment of Kinnear himself over recent days said it all…but what can he say?
He’s in such an intolerable position, he can’t come out and slaughter his employer but at the same time he can’t agree with a situation which no manager would find comfortable.”
Like the rest of us, Shearer probably couldn’t believe what was happening but again like us, he has now realised that there are no limits to how bizarrely Mike Ashley is determined to run Newcastle United, no matter what Alan Shearer or any of us think.
