Which Clubs Should Newcastle Fans Hate?

Whilst watching the Brighton v Crystal palace play-off semi final last night, I found I had become a quite fervent Palace fan, celebrating quite wildly when Zaha scored their 2nd goal. The reason? I have now added Brighton to the rather long list of clubs I will hate for the rest of my life, horrible b***ards knocking us out of the cup 2 years running.

Brighton – So Much To Answer For

The list has no rhyme or reason but it is there all the same, I hate spurs because they beat us 5-2 at home the season they got relegated, 1975 I think.

Some are obvious; Liverpool make the list for the 1974 cup final, Man City for the 1976 League Cup final and Man Utd for the 12 point comeback. Even more for the wasted trip to Cardiff for the FA Cup semi-final hammering, which memorably featured Nicky Butt’s last game for Man U despite wearing a Newcastle shirt at the time.

Others are less obvious, Everton make the list for their odious fans, who insist on singing ‘you never win f*** all’ every time they come to St James’, Arsenal because we all know Bergkamp didn’t mean it, West Ham because of the 3 goalie 8 something thrashing, Bolton because I got stuck in their car park for 2 hours the last time I went. Wigan make the list, not for the Macmanaman horror tackle but for the godawful Kebab meat pie I had in the Queens Arms on my last visit, there’s more but I’m sure you get the gist.

I’ve left Sunderland off the list because whilst its obvious we all hate them, we also need them, they are our biggest rivals and a focus for us all, a season without a Tyne Wear derby just isn’t the same.
