Tim Krul Picks Up Two Awards But Could Miss Start Of Season

Newcastle’s number one, Tim Krul, picked up two awards on Sunday but the bad news is that the Dutch keeper may not have fully recovered in time for the new season starting on the weekend of August 17.

A dislocated shoulder isn’t the best injury for a goalkeeper and it is touch and go as to whether he’ll make it, though it should be September at the very latest according to reports.

On a happier note, Tim picked up the player of the year award from the Scottish Mags before the Arsenal match, Graham Dunn and Alan Cochrane (both pictured) presenting the award.

Krul played a total of 31 matches, with 24 league appearances and 7 in Europe. Though he didn’t quite hit the heights of the previous season, little surprise given his injuries, Krul is a worthy winner in a year when contenders were a little thin on the ground.

Despite being out injured, Tim will have got a bit of exercise on Sunday as he also had to carry around the player of the year award that he received from the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust (NUST).

Over 3,000 Newcastle fans voted in the online poll and Krul came out on top, NUST board member Michael Thewlis doing the honours when presenting the Trust’s award on Sunday.

NUST also had a category for most improved player and Sylvain Marveaux won that award.
