With Newcastle United’s short-term future not certain until the final days of the season, understandably the manager’s position has been some topic of conversation.

Alan Pardew himself had talked about his job possibly been on the line, even if United managed to hold on to their Premier League place.

With safety assured after Sunday’s match, there does appear to have been moves behind the scenes as to Pardew’s position, that is if you believe the newspapers.

It is being widely reported this morning (including the Mirror, Star & Telegraph amongst others) that it is understood Alan Pardew will remain manager next season.

Very similar stories in the various papers claim that Pardew has been assured of his job and once the Arsenal match is out of the way he will meet Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias, with a plan for next season detailing how Newcastle United will bounce back from this year’s disappointments.

If confirmed, the news will be greeted with a mixed reaction and only time will tell whether whatever they decide will prove successful.
