Press Guilty Of Scraping Very Deep Barrel As They Go After NUFC

It is very kind of The Sun newspaper to be outraged on behalf of Newcastle United fans, I didn’t know they cared…

Their latest ‘exclusive’ is that Hatem Ben Arfa went to a Tyneside gym on Monday night and when spotted training in the weights room, was wearing Paris Saint-Germain training kit and wait for it…wasn’t watching the Villa v Sunderland match on the TV screens.

A ‘supporter’ is quoted as saying;

“Ben Arfa was laughing and joking with two French pals in the weights room, he didn’t appear to have a care in the world.”

And

“Ben Arfa didn’t look at the TV, even though Villa beating Sunderland could have a huge impact on our chances of staying up.”

In the newspaper’s typical style they also claimed;

Hatem Ben Arfa has riled suffering Newcastle fans…

Gym-goers were furious to see one of their heroes swanning around paying no attention to Villa and Sunderland….

I think that even if Newcastle United comfortably stay up, we should all be getting fitted with tin hats for much more of the same from the media in the coming months.

So apparently we should all be furious/outraged that Ben Arfa was seen laughing in public, wore a foreign club’s (who he supported as a kid) replica training kit and didn’t watch all ninety minutes of the mackem match. Scandalous!

Obviously they are scraping a very deep barrel but what they seem to miss is the fact that the player was working out in a gym in his own time to help make sure he’s fit for next Saturday. If only that was the case with some of our past players…

I take it that we should all be demanding that next Monday night, rather than going to the gym, Hatem should sit at home looking miserable in his full NUFC kit and scarf and hat, eating pie & chips and watching endless repeats of our relegation rivals’ matches from the weekend.

Then he just needs to kiss the badge to show how much he really cares.
