Predicted Newcastle United Line-Up v West Ham
West Ham v Newcastle United
Saturday 4 May 3pm
I look at this Newcastle United line-up and just wonder how on earth we have ended up where we are.
Struggling to make it to forty points and potentially relying on Wigan to not pick up points.
Of course football matches are played on grass and not paper, while we do have to acknowledge injuries and other factors have played a part, though they haven’t been the whole cause – just contributory.
All of that though has to be chucked out of the window today. If Alan Pardew puts this team of eleven players out on the pitch, they should win.
End of story.
They are better players than their West Ham counterparts, they only have to do the small matter of proving it.
Some of you may have found a place for the likes of (in descending order) Perch, Anita, Simpson, Williamson, Harper, Shola but I hope you aren’t proved right.
I think the manager has to go with the players he really believes are his best eleven and if they don’t do it today then maybe we do have to look at a different strategy for QPR next weekend.
If fit then it seems a no-brainer he will bring in Coloccini and yes I know Carroll is tall but I would definitely stick with Taylor alongside him rather than drafting in Williamson.
I’d have Mapou at right-back and Jonas on the left, no doubt there will be people shaking their heads but I think they’d both do solid jobs and in Mapou’s case give him back some confidence with a less complicated role.
In this 4-3-3 formation we need Cabaye getting forward with Sissoko & Tiote supporting him and covering, while Cabaye can hopefully influence the game in a more positive way than in a deeper role.
I pray he doesn’t stick Shola on the pitch and starts with Gouffran (10/1 To Score First Goal)and Ben Arfa supporting Cisse. This line-up would give us the potential of a hard working but talented front six who can take the game to West Ham.
Yes I know many of our players have been pale imitations at times but surely today with a point to prove and the likes of Coloccini and Ben Arfa (3/1 To Score A Goal) potentially back fully fit, they can kickstart that they are better than the league position they find themselves in.
If this eleven play for each other and the fans then I would have no worries.
Let’s banish these relegation blues in the most positive of ways.
Just seen a Daily Mail story reporting that Sissoko hasn’t even travelled due to an ankle injury. Oh dear.
Even worse, the Mail story suggests Shola is the likely replacement! Surely drafting Anita into the midfield makes far more sense, let’s hope so.
