Pardew – “I Thank The Football Gods” (Interviewed After QPR Match) – Video

8 years ago

After the team achieved the bare minimum of respectability by ensuring Premier League status after the win at Loftus Road, the manager was in confident and relieved mood as he spoke about the match and the issues of recent weeks.

As well as the usual comments about the problems caused by injuries and dodgy decisions by match officials, the manager looked to the future;

“I thank the football gods.

We’ve made mistakes and we have made errors. At the end of the season I’ll sit down with my owner who has been terrific, Mike Ashley, and we’ll make sure we protect ourselves.

We’ve got to be prepared and have a little bit more cover than we had last year.”

We all await with interest to see what will happen between Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew.

The manager has had plenty to say in recent days including apparent criticism of Ashley, which Pardew later claimed wasn’t.

While in terms of his own position, Alan Pardew had said he wasn’t sure if he’d keep his job even if Newcastle stayed up.

These comments after the QPR match though make it sound like the manager is pretty sure of his position, or is that just bravado?
