Odds Fall Further On Newcastle & Sunderland To Be Relegated

From a purely betting perspective, Saturday’s results have made the odds on relegation very interesting.

Wigan were twice behind and defeat by West Brom would have all but put paid to them, unfortunately you have to give credit for their battling spirit and in the realms of ‘you couldn’t make it up’, it had to be Callum Mcmanaman who scored their winner.

This is how the bookies thought how the releagtion chances looked before this weekend (odds on the left and number of points on right);

RELEGATION ODDS BEFORE THIS WEEKEND’S MATCHES
16/1 Norwich (38)
14/1 Sunderland (37)
7/1 Aston Villa (37)
6/1 Newcastle (37)
2/5 Wigan (32)

Victory for Newcastle would have left us relatively safe and able to enjoy Sunderland’s potential discomfort on Monday night when they entertain Stoke. However, as it stands we are both deep in it and if Wigan win at home to Swansea on Tuesday it would put the mackems bottom three if Stoke took all three points.

On a less happier note, a win for Wigan and anything for the mackems and it will be us in the bottom three on Tuesday night.

The only positive from Saturday’s results is that Norwich’s defeat to Villa means they are dragged into and are now second favourites after Wigan. The Canaries are home to West Brom then away at Manchester City in their final two games. Anxious times but not just for us!

RELEGATION ODDS NOW AFTER SATURDAY’S MATCHES
33/1 Aston Villa (40)
20/1 Southampton (39)
4/1   Norwich (38)
5/1   Newcastle (38)
8/1   Sunderland (37)
4/5   Wigan (35)
