Newcastle Will Find Out If They Have A Team On Saturday

Is there a split in the Newcastle United dressing room?

Did Hatem Ben Arfa wear a PSG training top at the gym?

Do we care?

Obviously we care about whether Newcastle United win or lose football matches but when it comes to press reports of stuff on the periphery, it doesn’t really matter just so long as when our eleven representatives walk onto the pitch they do their best for both the football club and the fans.

I think we will find out an awful lot on Saturday about the character of the team, naturally I would take a win under any circumstances but whatever the result, if the players give it their all and back each other up – it will go a long way towards the manager and his squad being able to make a fresh start.

While the performances were shocking against both Liverpool and the Mackems, it is easy to forget that as recently as the second half at home to Benfica and the first half at the Hawthorns, you would have found it hard to fault the team – aside from not putting the ball in the net a few more times.

Rarely, if ever, have Newcastle United managed to put in a full ninety minutes this season and so it was the case against both Benfica and West Brom.

However, in those two halves of football we saw excellent teamwork, commitment and skill.

Alan Pardew looks as though he will have a decent number of selection options to try and recreate the teamwork and purpose Newcastle showed in those matches.

The players/team are capable of going to West Ham and proving a lot of people wrong, if they fail to show then I think the writing could be on the wall for Alan Pardew.
