Newcastle United’s Young Players Kick Off With A Win
Newcastle United’s development squad kicked off this morning in their bid to retain the Hong Kong 7s title they won last year.
The tournament is taking place at the Happy Valley stadium of Hong Kong Football Club.
Games take place over the weekend with three group games today against a Hong Kong select, followed later by matches against Southern District and then Leicester.
On Sunday the 16 teams will then play on a knockout basis, with the possibility of meeting the likes of Manchester City, Villa and the Mackems.
The United squad that travelled was;
Alnwick, Dummett, Streete, Tavernier, Newton, Logan, Inman, Richardson, Aarons & Sammy Ameobi.
The good news is that in their first seven minutes each way match against the Hong Kong select, Newcastle have won their opening match.
Sammy Ameobi scored twice in the first half to put United two up and then a goalless second half left a final score of 2-0.
Good luck for the rest of the weekend, silverware here we come!
