Newcastle To Decide Wenger and Arsenal’s Fate
Today we have Newcastle United v Arsenal, the deluded against those suffering a trophy ‘drought’.
Yes in the topsy turvy world of modern football, often nothing is as it seems.
Newcastle only win 2 in 14 matches and the fans are slated as unreasonable for expecting and hoping for better, Arsenal draw two matches in a row and the media believe the fans have every right to turn up at the Emirates with their pitchforks because of their club’s ‘underachievement’.
After 15 consecutive seasons in the Champions League, I’ve seen comments from some Arsenal fans who think it is maybe best they lose at St.James’ Park today to get rid of Wenger and shake up the ownership of the club as to their ambitions.
I think in many ways Arsene Wenger’s achievements outweigh even Alex Ferguson’s in terms of what he has achieved compared to the finances he has used. In fact, hand on heart, if we had the choice (some hope!) I would prefer Wenger to Ferguson at Newcastle every time.
It would be glorious if it was Newcastle who dealt the final blow that meant the many whingeing Gooners got their wish and we helped decide Arsene Wenger’s mind up in departing from the Emirates.
Then we could watch on as Arsenal did a Liverpool and wasted the massive advantages that they’d held over those aspiring to be at the top table.
The only question is who Arsenal’s King Kenny would be?
