Newcastle & Sunderland Fans Unite To Thank Fergie

I have just read one of the funniest pieces of football writing that I have ever seen.

In these miserable days of waiting to see if Wigan will do enough to stop us getting relegated, I needed something to cheer me up and I found it here.

The following was in The Journal by Stuart Rayner, regarding Sir Alex Ferguson’s influence on Newcastle United;

‘Ferguson’s former players have helped spread his habits on the Darsley Park training ground. Danny Simpson and Gabriel Obertan both joined from the Red Devils.’

That will be the Danny Simpson who Newcastle haven’t even offered a new contract to and who will leave for nothing in a few weeks time.

As for Obertan, at least we now know why we have been so woeful this season if he has been helping to spread ‘habits’ at the training ground! Then we have Alan ‘No Goals In Five Seasons’ Smith, who admitted (AFTER he’d signed!) that he wasn’t the same player he’d been thanks to an injury/operation he had at Old Trafford. Yes thanks for everything Sir Alex, letting us have your over priced liabilities.

I have to say though that we’ve got off quite lightly when you see ‘everything’ Fergie has done for the mackems!

The Journal’s Stuart Rayner again;

‘At Sunderland his influence is even greater, the Black Cats trying hard to capture a little of his magic.

Former managers Steve Bruce and Roy Keane both spent the best years of their playing careers under Ferguson and Bardsley, Wes Brown and John O’Shea are the latest in a long line of players to move from Old Trafford’.

That will be the Steve Bruce and Roy Keane who have helped ruin Sunderland and left them with massive debts, Ellis Short giving them a relative fortune to spend which they managed to spectacularly waste.

As for the players who have been sent their way, I bet the mackems are eternally grateful for the succession of players who have been sent their way for one last pay day and long spells lying down in the treatment room counting their dosh.

Yes, Sir Alex, at least we can thank you for helping to put Newcastle and Sunderland where we are today…
