New Study – How Much Would You Pay To Watch Newcastle, Sunderland and Arsenal?
A new study has revealed how much fans of each Premier League club would be a fair price to watch their team.
Surveying fans of every Premiership club, Virgin Money have taken the findings and produced their ‘How much would you pay’ table (see below).
It is quite timely that we are playing Arsenal today as they are at the very extremes of Premier League football. Their fans pay the average highest season ticket prices at £1470 and those fans believe that a fair price would be £766, a whopping £704 difference.
In Newcastle United’s case, the average season ticket prices work out at £636 and United fans believe £444 would be a fair price to watch the team a difference of £192.
Just down the road and the mackems pay on average £488 but think that £325 would be a fair price for a season ticket, a difference of £163.
So roughly Arsenal fans think that a fair price is close to what we actually pay, while we believe a decent price is roughly what Sunderland supporters pay.
Wigan fans were the closest in believing what you are paying is fair, which isn’t too hard when their average season ticket price is only £278!
In essence though, the price of watching football in England is ludicrous and exactly what German football fans would make of this is anybody’s guess…
