Kevin Nolan Rewrites His Newcastle United History
Yes Newcastle United are in a relegation fight, none of are now in any denial about that.
Like most of you I have taken part in endless discussions with other fans about where it has all gone wrong, who is to blame, how it can be put right and so on.

However, I do take issue with certain people lecturing us about what should and shouldn’t happen at St.James’ Park.
Take Kevin Nolan for example;
“Yes of course I’m surprised they bought so many players from one country, you can’t get away from the fact they had a scouting system and it got praised so much last year, but now people are starting to question it.
British players have lived the Premier League, or the Championship before that, all our lives.
Although the foreign lads have always wanted to be in the Premier League, we know how much it means to the city.
All I’m saying is that they have had all their good press, it is about time they stand up now and make sure they do right for Newcastle.”
So this wouldn’t be the same Kevin Nolan who played in the second half of our last relegation season? Obviously it must be that other Kevin Nolan, the French one.
Not the Kevin Nolan who came to St.James’ Park and didn’t score a single goal as United sank into the Championship with barely a ripple.
My memory isn’t what it was but I can remember Nolan was absolutely shocking and didn’t even look fit, puffing and panting round the pitch never quite getting to where he needed to be. Yes he pulled his Newcastle career around as part of the squad that outclassed the Championship and scored a decent amount of goals the following season with the help of Andy Carroll, once he was relieved of any responsibility for running around.
Yes that relegation season, it was the Argentinians to blame, along with other foreigners like, Enrique, Bassong (player of the year) and Beye.
Not the good old English lads like Nolan, Barton, Owen, Butt, Guthrie, Smith, Harper and Shola. Plus who can forget the contribution of Duff…yes I know he’s Irish but to Kevin Nolan I’m sure he’s one of us, rather than one of them.
Newcastle are where they are because of all sorts of reasons, the main one being the terrible decision not to buy players last summer.
However, West Ham spent a fortune to get out of the Championship and they have players like Carroll because they were prepared to pay the huge wages that Newcastle wouldn’t.
So looking at the league table, if Newcastle won today we’d only be two points behind the Hammers.
Yes Newcastle are in a largely self-created mess but I don’t need the likes of Kevin Nolan to be patronising me.
