How Many Ex-NUFC Players Have Won Trophies Since Newcastle Last Won Silverware?

If you are bored at work or just like a challenge, we have the perfect thing for you.

We are talking about trophies and Newcastle United in the same sentence but try not to panic just yet.

Over at the excellent sporting intelligence website they have given us the idea of challenging you.

They have gone through the ex-Arsenal players who have won trophies over the time of the Gunners’ shocking silverware drought, which goes ALL the way back to 2005 when they won the FA Cup.

In those eight years, 23 players who previously played for Arsenal have won 56 major trophies! (‘Major’ trophy being Champions League, Europa League, domestic league and FA Cup/League Cup, or equivalent).

Not sure Conor Newton and Paul Dummett qualify but guessing they do, having won a trophy at another club (Scottish League Cup with St.Mirren while on loan this past season) while still on Newcastle’ books.

So are you ready to take up the challenge and tell us the list of players and how many trophies they have won, since that memorable day (if you’re old enough to remember) back in 1969.

We’ve given you two in Dummett and Newton, while some players didn’t just win any trophy, the following all won the European Cup/Champions League after leaving Newcastle; Frank Clark, Terry McDermott, Peter Withe, Alan Kennedy and Andy Cole.

I’m beginning to dread just how many it is going to be….
