Double Summer Signing Dream For Newcastle

As you all know, this has been a season to forget.

With only 3 games left and relegation a possibility, unlikely in my mind, but a possibility all the same, many of us blame Pardew for this awful season. That being said, there’s no denying that injuries and the fact that we did not strengthen our small squad last summer did play a big part in Newcastle’s poor form.

Assuming that we stay in the Premier League it is clear that Ashley needs to spend again in the summer, like he did this January, if Newcastle want to get back into the top half of the table, whether Pardew will/should go is a question for another day.

A few new recruits in the summer will give Newcastle a lot more depth and one area in particular that needs strengthening is up forward. Sure we need a few defenders, maybe one or two midfielders, but I think our strike force has to be the main focus .

This season has seen us lose Demba Ba to Chelsea and ever since then the goals have been hard to come by, with Cisse not at his best and Gouffran being placed out on the wing we have only scored three goals from our last seven matches. Everyone is saying we need to get a top quality striker, but I’m thinking why not two? In fact two immediately come to mind.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ticks all the boxes to become a Newcastle striker. He’s only young at 23, he’s a proven goal scorer with 35 goals out of 68 appearances for Saint-Étienne and playing brilliantly this season, fast and good on the ball, can play up forward on his own or as a winger, he speaks French!! The list goes on and on.

This guy has been heavily linked with Newcastle ever since Ba left and he looks like the perfect replacement. He could play alongside Cisse or behind him and I’d really like to see him link up with Ben Afra, Cabaye and Sissoko. Aubameyang is exactly the type of versatile player Newcastle needs.

Wilfried Bony (Pictured) – This guy is like the new Drogba. He’s very strong, calm with the ball, wins tackles and can hold the ball very well.  Bony has 46 goals from 63 appearances, a very impressive statistic. From Ivory Cost and after playing together in the African cup of nations, perhaps Tiote could convince Bony to join like Cabaye did with Debuchy? Bony would be a great striker up on his own – being  strong and able to handle himself. He would provide healthy competition  for Cisse, or the two could form a striking partnership played up top together.

It is clear that we need to strengthen In many areas, not just up front, but with two new quality strikers we would never be short of goals again and with Cisse, Gouffran and the other two always fighting for a spot hopefully we’d never need to play old Shola.

Both strikers wouldn’t be cheap with both of them rumoured to be valued at between 10-12 million, possibly £24million for the pair, but if Ashley would just have faith and realise that the goals they’d score would pay him back long-term, then we could really start to get back on track.
