Demba Ba Gave Motivational Talk To Newcastle Squad

9 years ago

Demba Ba’s departure to Chelsea provoked a lot of reactions; varying from claims that he was a money grabber, right through to who could blame him for leaving the Newcastle madhouse for a team capable of winning trophies.

Newcastle’s results and performances since then, have probably not changed a lot of fans’ positions on Ba.

Those who thought he was simply a money grabber, will point to Demba’s jumping ship to Chelsea as being a big factor in Newcastle on the edge of the relegation zone.

Whilst those who had the view that they couldn’t blame him, will point to those same results and performances as further proof that he would have been daft to hang around our chaotically run club.

In an interesting twist though, Demba Ba turned up at Newcastle’s hotel before the West Ham match to try and help with morale and motivate the players.

This is what Ba said in The Sun;

“I went to see them at the hotel and tried to give them a bit of motivation because I would not like to see them go down.

Newcastle have got the qualities, there is not a lot missing for the team to get out of the situation and I hope they will. They’re all motivating each other and talking to each other.”

While a lot of fans won’t change their opinion of Ba, fair play to him because I think he did this for genuine reasons.

There will be fans who will also see an angle here for why should highly paid professionals need a player from another club to ‘motivate’ them and also what are Newcastle United doing on that front with the players?

After finishing above Chelsea last season, it would just be the biggest joke/irony/disgrace if Demba Ba’s new club qualified for the Champions League and won the Europa League, while his old club were relegated.

You quite literally couldn’t make it up.
