Cabaye ‘I Just Want To Save Newcastle United’

The attempts last week by the press to unsettle Newcastle United even further, certainly didn’t seem to have a negative effect on the team on Saturday.

There was nothing wrong with the application of the players against West Ham, we have more of a problem with creativity and goalscoring, in my opinion.

Yohan Cabaye has been targeted by both press and some fans as a big part of Newcastle’s problems this season but while he hasn’t played anywhere near what he is capable of, I find it crazy to then assume that this must be down to dressing room problems and/or a lack of desire.

Cabaye has had this to say to the Shields Gazette following the weekend’s matches;

“In the dressing room everything’s OK, the French players all want to adapt well and we’re all focused together.

I’m 100 per cent with everybody, I just want to save the club with my teammates and stay in the Premier League.

We can’t create cliques, we have to stay focused.

It was a good response from everybody on the pitch but if we think about other results, it starts to be hard for us.

All week these silly rumours about rifts, it was completely evident that wasn’t the case.”

With only one and a half goalscorers (Cisse and Gouffran), Alan Pardew has to find a way to get Cabaye further up the pitch so he can influence the play in dangerous positions.

That must start next Sunday against QPR.
